Hot Cacao Ingredients 🙂
Happy Fall! With the colder months now approaching, I have been looking for a warm drink to replace my iced hemp lattes. Luckily, on a recent trip to Woodstock, my dear friend introduced me to an incredible hot chocolate. Each morning we shared this smooth and satisfying drink made from my most favorite superfood ever….cacao. Not only was it thick and creamy, it also had an amazing chocolaty sweet flavor. The perfect way to start a chilly morning!
Of course this version is much different than the heavily processed, full-of-junk hot chocolate found on grocery store shelves. (Artificial flavors, anyone?) This superfood-filled beverage nourishes, revitalizes and energizes. Not only does cacao have the highest content of magnesium IN THE WORLD (and most of us are chronically deficient in this mineral), it also contains an impressive array of anti-oxidants with natural mood-boosting and anti-depressant properties. Plus, the coconut oil and cacao butter gives the hot chocolate some heart healthy fats and the non-dairy milk offers a source of protein. Add a touch of cinnamon which helps lower bad cholesterol while stabilizing blood sugar and you have a powerful, hot and healthy cacao hot chocolate!
You can easily make this for a morning treat or even after dinner if you’re craving something sweet. It’s an ideal way to consciously indulge.

Hot + Healthy Hot Chocolate – Serves 2
1 tablespoon coconut oil
2 cup non-dairy milk – your choice of almond or any nut or seed milk, coconut, rice, or organic dairy
2 tablespoons Raw Cacao powder
1/2 tablespoon of cacao butter
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon honey or sweetener of your choice
1 pinch of Himalayan salt
In a medium saucepan, slowly melt coconut oil. Gently pour in milk and stir. Add in one tablespoon of cacao butter and continue to simmer until butter melts.
Next, add the cacao powder and continue stirring until you create a even consistency. Finish with a pinch of salt, cinnamon and sweetener of your choice.
Serve in a mug, cuddle up with someone you love and enjoy!
